Greetings
In recent years, more and more international visitors have come to Japan, eager to experience its culture and traditions. But for many first-time visitors, it can be hard to know where to begin.
Kabuki, geisha, Mount Fuji—and sumo—are all part of Japan’s cultural heritage. Sumo has become especially popular, and official tournament tickets can be difficult to get.
At the same time, visiting an active sumo stable can feel intimidating. Training is strict, and visitors must follow rules such as no talking, no eating or drinking, and no video recording. Guests may also need to sit on tatami for long periods—sometimes up to several hours.
For this reason, at Kyoto Sumo Club, we have introduced a “Entertainment Sumo Show” led by retired professional wrestlers, allowing international guests to experience sumo culture in a more relaxed and enjoyable way.
While preserving the authentic atmosphere of sumo, we strive to create an environment where guests can unwind and fully enjoy Japanese culture.
We look forward to welcoming you for an unforgettable sumo entertainment show and dining experience.
Sumo Event & Chanko

About Our Chanko
All of our dishes are supervised by Former Sumo-Stable Chef, who worked for many years as a chanko chef in an actual sumo stable. With carefully selected ingredients, we serve authentic chanko hot pot and traditional chanko cuisine.
Our signature chanko is a light yet deeply rich salt-based broth, made by blending three types of dashi: chicken broth, kelp, and bonito flakes. From the first bite to the final sip, we invite you to enjoy every moment—right through to the end of the pot.
Please enjoy the proud taste of our authentic chanko.
